No. Foreground location is enough when Parks SF is open. Background collection is optional and intended for people who want visits recognized while the phone is put away. You can turn it off anytime in iOS Settings under Parks SF > Location.

You can explore as a guest. An optional account keeps collected patches, ratings, and comparison progress with your sign-in so it can be restored on another device. Raw location history is never part of the sync.

Open the You tab, tap the account button in the top-right corner, then choose Delete Account. The deletion is permanent and removes the account and its synced Parks SF records. To remove progress stored only on your iPhone, delete the app.

Parks SF can receive catalog corrections between App Store releases. That lets us add a missing public park, remove a false match, or improve a boundary without waiting for a new app version.

Send the park name, the location you expected, and—if possible—a link to the managing agency or an official park page. This helps distinguish public parks from private plazas, buildings, and restricted green space.
